I don't agree: keitai is not an american import, it's an ordinary Japanese
word and in itself does not mean mobile phone - although it's used for
that today:

mobile phone = keitai denwa
keitai denwa is written as four chinese characters:

kei = carry in hand
tai = belt
keitai suru = carry, bring with, equip oneself with
den = electricity
wa = speak
denwa = telephone
